Willie McCovey’s 2,000th Hit

Sept. 7, 1977: Willie McCovey gets his 2,000th career hit with a double to RF driving in Rob Andrews and Darrell Evans off Mario Soto in T1.  He ended his career with 2,211 hits and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986.

We can clearly see that Grandma is really starting to feel the pressure of a 3-peat World Series run late into this 1977 season. “Is it really too, too late Reds?”
